South Downs Film Makers

About Us

We began in the early sixties - using 8mm for the most part. As technology changed more and more of us adopted video and progressed from the snowy days of VHS to S-VHS and now to digital video.

The South Downs Film Makers is a non profit making organization.

The Objectives of the club are:-

  1. To encourage the production of video films as a hobby.

  2. To encourage interest in film and video as an art and as a medium of information, education and entertainment.

  3. To increase the knowledge and technical ability of members in the use of photographic and video equipment by lectures, demonstrations and instructional films and by mutual help, practice and discussion.

Behind the scenes shot during the making of 'Brotherly Spirit'.

Preparing to shoot a scene for Brotherly Spirit.

We meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month in The Village Hall in Ferring West Sussex and membership of the club is open to all.

We have a wide range of meetings - see the schedule - covering the technicalities and the art of movie making. Come along and meet us !
